What is a monofilament wig?

Monofilament is where one strand of fibre is knotted singly on a very fine single layer of mesh, which allows the natural skin tone to appear through it. It is both water and air permeable for complete comfort.  What are the benefits to wearing a Monofilament wig? How do I clean my wig or hairpiece and how often?

Before washing, brush your wig thoroughly to remove all teasing and tangles. Make a solution of mild shampoo and water, saturate the wig and gently dip in and out. DO NOT RUB. Then let it soak for three or four minutes. Rinse in clear cold water, then wrap the wig in a towel, press out excess moisture. DO NOT WRING OUT. Let it drip dry overnight at normal room temperature. NEVER BRUSH WHEN WET. DO NOT USE A HAIR DRYER. When you are sure it is dry, brush it back into the style of your choice. How often you wash your wig or hairpiece will depend on how often you wear it. If it’s only worn occasionally then once every few weeks will be fine. If you wear your wig or hairpiece everyday then it will require washing every other week – as time goes on you will get to know when to wash it.

Can I cut my wig or hairpiece?

We do not recommend cutting ready made wigs or hairpieces as they are already designed into a style and knotted accordingly. Also be mindful that once cut it will not grow back! Custom made wigs and hairpieces can be cut to style by someone experienced in cutting wigs as it is different to cutting normal hair.

How long will my wig or hairpiece last?

Again that depends on how often you wear it. If you are going to wear it daily we suggest that you purchase 2 wigs or hairpieces so that they can be alternated.

How do I fit or put on my wig?

First secure your own hair by pinning or using a wig cap. Hold wig by the back (where the tags are) and shake if it's fresh from the box. Loosen the velcro straps or hooks in the back of the wig. You can resize later. Grasp the wig by the sides and slip it over your head. Adjust until the wig looks like your own hairline at the front.

Can I colour my Wig?

No, the chemicals used in hair dye will ruin acrylic wigs.  Fibre does not absorb colour like human hair.

How do I style my wig?

Your wig can be styled by using a wire brush, a wire pick, or your fingertips. Your wig was designed with a basic style but the variations you can achieve through styling are limitless. Added height can be achieved by gently lifting with the brush. If you want added fullness as well, tease or back comb and then smooth the surface hair over the teasing. To return your wig to it's basic style simply brush thoroughly, clean and allow to air dry.

What is the difference between synthetic hair and human hair?

Synthetic: easy to maintain (wash-and-wear), less expensive than human hair, easy to style, pre styled. Human hair: more versatility, longer durability, custom styling and colouring available.
